The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Wagoneer. The contact stated that while driving on a busy highway at an undisclosed speed with the contact's two minor children seated in the rear seat, the "Shift To Park" warning message was displayed on the instrument panel, and the engine stalled. In addition, the contact stated that the gear selector was stuck. After several attempts, the vehicle restarted and was driven to the residence. The contact stated that the failure was persistent. A dealer was made aware of the failure, and the vehicle was scheduled to be towed to the dealer for diagnostic testing the following day. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or a dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 27,800.

JEEP WAGONEER 2024 POWER TRAIN

On 5/14/26 around 8:00am, I just dropped the kids off to school and entered onto the 5 lane freeway, 290, driving into work. Driving 70 miles an hour, the steering light and a warning light came on and then other lights started flashing. The engine shut off, and the steering wheel felt like it locked-up. I managed to exit off the freeway and the car came to a stop. The car would not restart. A tow was called to take to the nearest dealership. In August 2025, this happened and we were told it was a bad AUX battery and it was replaced. Now we are told it is the PDC that is causing the issue.

JEEP WAGONEER 2024 STEERING

I am filing this complaint because this vehicle has had multiple intermittent safety-related electrical/software and driver-assistance problems, and the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. On multiple occasions, the vehicle has powered on but would not shift out of Park into Drive. The most recent time, I was leaving work and the vehicle would not let me shift into Drive. I was stuck there for about two hours and had to call for a tow. When the tow truck arrived, the vehicle suddenly allowed me to shift into Drive again and I was able to drive home. This is very concerning because the vehicle can leave someone stranded without warning.  The vehicle has also falsely detected hazards or forward-collision situations several times while driving, even though there was no nearby vehicle, pedestrian, object, or anything else that should have triggered a warning. On multiple occasions, the vehicle has abruptly applied automatic emergency braking and slammed on the brakes for no apparent reason while traveling at 30-50 MPH. I am very concerned this could cause a crash, especially if another vehicle is behind me.  The vehicle has also had charging and range display problems on multiple occasions. For example, last week it was charged to about 80% and then driven about 50 miles, but the displayed range/state of charge did not properly decrease or update until the vehicle was turned off and restarted about an hour later.  These issues have continued despite prior dealer updates and recall work. The manufacturer has been notified, and the vehicle is being brought back to an authorized dealer for inspection. I do not know yet whether the dealer or manufacturer has been able to reproduce or confirm the problems. The issues appear to involve the electrical/software systems, shift/park function, battery/range display, forward collision warning, and automatic emergency braking systems.

JEEP WAGONEER S 2024 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS

Vehicle: 2024 Jeep Wagoneer (Base Model)  The vehicle has experienced ongoing and progressively worsening engine performance failures, specifically involving unstable RPM behavior and loss of power during idle and re-acceleration from idle. These defects have been present on multiple occasions and occur under normal operating conditions. While stopped at traffic signals or intersections, the vehicle frequently exhibits sudden and erratic RPM fluctuations, followed by a sharp drop in engine speed resulting in complete engine shutdown. These shutdown events have occurred both while the vehicle is in Park and while actively positioned in traffic, creating a hazardous condition. In several instances, the engine stalled unexpectedly while the vehicle was stopped at a red light, requiring an immediate restart in an active traffic environment. In addition, when transitioning from an idle state to acceleration, the vehicle has demonstrated abrupt surging and jerking behavior, causing sudden forward movement. This creates a significant risk of unintended acceleration and near-collision events, particularly in congested traffic conditions or when stopped closely behind another vehicle. The vehicle was presented to an authorized Jeep dealership for inspection. The dealership advised that no diagnostic fault codes were present and no defect could be identified. However, during the dealerâs evaluation, the vehicle did stall while being allowed to roll into the service bay in an idle state, directly corroborating the reported condition. Despite this occurrence, no corrective repair was made, and the vehicle was returned without resolution. The frequency and severity of these symptoms have increased over time, resulting in a vehicle that is unreliable and unsafe to operate. The continued occurrence of engine shutdowns and erratic acceleration behavior presents a clear and ongoing safety risk to the driver, passengers, and surrounding motorists.

JEEP WAGONEER 2024 ENGINE

This vehicle engine overheated. Leading up to the engine overheating event, there was an instance where the vehicle was driven for a mile or two and the air conditioning seemed to not be cooling. The vehicle was turned off for a few hours and restarted and the air conditioning appeared to work. However, the next day, the engine overheated. All repairs associated with this event were completed under warranty at no cost to the customer however, this is the 2nd Wagoneer we own and the other one had similar issues.
