For years, the Aluminum Trailer Company (ATC) has carved out a unique niche in the RV market by exclusively utilizing aluminum in its construction. This commitment extends to everything from commercial trailers to fifth-wheel toy haulers, resulting in robust yet surprisingly lightweight vehicles free from any wood components, both structurally and aesthetically. While ATC has historically focused on the toy hauler segment, including their recent Pla 650 series showcased at the 2026 Hershey RV show, a significant shift is on the horizon for the 2027 model year.

ATC is preparing to launch its inaugural non-toy hauler fifth-wheel RV series, a move that promises to broaden their appeal to a wider range of camping enthusiasts. This new line, slated to be named “Hom” (or potentially Hōm, aligning with ATC’s distinctive phonetic naming conventions), signifies a deliberate step towards offering a more traditional RV experience without compromising the brand’s signature all-aluminum, no-rot construction. Industry publications, citing direct information from ATC and its dealers, have confirmed this strategic expansion.

The initial rollout of the Hom series will feature two distinct floorplans. One of these, the ATC HOM 38RL, has already been previewed with renderings and detailed specifications. This rear-living layout stretches an impressive 38 feet (approximately 11.5 meters) in total length and incorporates three slide-outs, a common feature in fifth-wheel designs, to maximize interior space.

The HOM 38RL’s living area and kitchen will boast opposing super-slides, creating an expansive open-plan environment. This design is intended to provide ample room for comfortable movement and the integration of all necessary amenities. While the layout adheres to a traditional fifth-wheel configuration, ATC plans to infuse it with their signature construction techniques and advanced capabilities. This includes the familiar all-aluminum tubular frame, a fully welded aluminum structure, aluminum sidewalls bolstered with substantial insulation, and a one-piece aluminum walkable roof, ensuring durability and longevity.

Inside, the HOM 38RL aims to deliver a residential-style experience. Expect high-quality finishes and features such as fabric sofas, faux leather recliners, a cozy fireplace, and a Televator for discreet television storage. Owners will also have the option of four different color choices for the aluminum cabinetry. The kitchen will be equipped with apartment-sized appliances, while the bathroom will feature a full shower enclosed by gliding glass doors, further enhancing the sense of spaciousness and luxury. The master bedroom comes standard with a queen-size bed, which can be upgraded to a king, and offers generous storage solutions, including under the premium mattress base.

Technological integration is also a key aspect of the new Hom series. The ATC HOM 38RL will feature a Garmin operating system, providing control over various functions, including the hydraulic slide-outs and power awnings. Complementing the advanced tech are new frameless, double-pane tinted windows with integrated shades, a design element previously seen in the ATC Pla 650 series, which are both aesthetically pleasing and highly functional. Kaylie Miller, marketing operations manager at ATC Trailers, highlighted the brand’s vision, stating, “The Hōm luxury fifth wheel RVs will be our first non-toy hauler RVs and will feature the same all-aluminum, fully welded structure as our toy hauler models, with the interior built to be as comfortable as home.”
